Purcie S. Gadley, Jr., age 80, passed away peacefully on Saturday in Ovett, Mississippi, surrounded by the family he loved so dearly.
Born on September 8, 1945, in Baxter, Pennsylvania, Purcie lived a life defined by an unshakeable conviction to stand up for what he believed in and never back down. He was a talented mechanic, and in his later years became well known for his passion for tinkering on cars — a hobby that brought him joy and drew friends and family into many a driveway conversation. Above all else, Purcie treasured time spent with his family, and that love was evident to everyone who knew him.
Purcie is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Alice; his sons Dave (Susie) of Lucinda, PA., Ron of Madisonville, KY., Bill (Heather) of Jacksonville, FL., Shane Gadley (Tipsie) of Ovett, MS., and Brandon (Mallory) of Richton, MS.; his daughters, Bobbi Steed (Patrick) of Pensacola, FL. and Alice Dehner (Larry) of Hattiesburg, MS.; his brother Harry Gadley of Kane, PA.; 24 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild expected in January 2027.
He was preceded in death by his eldest son, Don; parents, Purcie S. Gadley, Sr. and Otha Gadley-Kaiser; and his sister, Otha Diane Ginkel. A Celebration of Purcie's Life will be announced at a later date.
Purcie will be forever remembered for his unwavering love for those around him. His spirit lives on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.
The family would like to offer a special thank you to the dedicated care team with Compassus Hospice for making Purcie's final days comfortable.
